1. Narrative Purpose
Every thread ends here, in the place it started, four years later to the day. The Task Force forces Outcome A, as its own doctrine recommends, before the aircraft can reach the moment where it tries to save itself the way it saved Belyaev. Each phase belongs to the person whose wound it reaches: Thorne must give an order alone; Eirhei must hear a request to be let go and keep flying; Vance must take the shot again, knowing.
2. Briefing
Delivered aboard Albatross by the cell, with Vance present and Katya and Irina on the link from Sonza.
The aircraft needs slush hydrogen. Okchabursk and Glubina are disabled. Pobeda-7 has been returned to the condition it was in during 2026: mothballed, crew withdrawn, transfer gear powered on standby, the same stock in the same tanks. Nothing added. The aircraft refueled here before. It will read this as the place it already knows.
When it lands, we wait. Refueling to rung 1 takes 45 to 90 minutes. The transfer arm will be cut on the on-scene commander's call. Too early, and it lifts with enough reserve to disappear. Too late, and it lifts at Mach 4.3.
Once it is airborne: drive it north, over the sea ice, away from the coast. Morgenstern will keep it illuminated. It has no missiles. It will discharge twice, at most.
One Tier 3 trigger is authorized. Yekaterina Belyaeva has volunteered to deliver it.
The recommendation of this cell, for the record: if forced to choose the manner of the aircraft's end, force the crash. Do not let it reach the moment where it tries to save itself the way it saved him.
3. Objectives
| Phase | Primary | Secondary |
|---|---|---|
| 1 (Thorne) | Maintain emission control; call the transfer cut | Cut inside the optimal band (rung 1 not reached, reserve below hide threshold) |
| 2 (Eirhei) | Drive the aircraft north; attack inside both discharge windows; hold formation through the trigger | Keep all wingman Loads below critical |
| 3 (Vance) | Gun pass on the port panel line inside the loop window | Do not fire on the cockpit |
4. Flow
Phase 1: Over (Thorne)
The flight orbits 120 km south of Pobeda-7 under full emission control: no radio, no radar, MADL datalink only. The constellation's polar passes feed imagery to the Command Picture.
The aircraft arrives low over the peninsula at rung 2, venting cryogen from the damaged engine, and lands. The transfer arm swings out under its control. A fuel gauge on the Command Picture tracks the aircraft's estimated state, read by Asano from its emissions over the datalink as text.
The player watches for up to forty minutes of real time (compressible by a time-accelerate control that the game removes in the final ten minutes). The optimal band for the cut is visible on the gauge. Nobody can speak. Eirhei cannot translate. The decision is Thorne's alone.
When the player calls the cut, the transfer arm freezes. The aircraft lifts within seconds.
- Cut in band: it lifts at reduced capability; Phase 2 proceeds normally.
- Cut early: it lifts with more reserve than expected; Phase 2 begins with a longer chase.
- Cut late: it lifts near rung 1; Phase 2 begins with a Mach 4 sprint the flight cannot match, and only Morgenstern's illumination keeps it in the fight until thermal limits slow it.
Emission control ends. The first thing on the radio is Thorne's order. He gives it without anyone translating it, and the squadron understands it anyway.
OVER: "All Six-AME. Weapons free. Bring him north."
Phase 2: AME (Eirhei)
The chase runs north over breaking sea ice toward the sector where Belyaev died. Allied shooters fire BVR volleys from multiple vectors to herd it. Morgenstern's column holds the aircraft in continuous light; there is no night here today, and it cannot hide in its own glow.
First discharge. The aircraft fires its emitter into the flight. The window opens; the flight attacks.
The search. The aircraft's operator modeling turns on Eirhei. On the open channel, in Belyaev's voice, from its own record of 14:22:26 four years ago:
"...please... let me go..."
Eirhei's Load spikes. Her empathy display shows every other meter rising with hers. The player must hold formation and keep the lock (input: maintain position in the formation box while the Load effect pushes the aircraft off it).
Second discharge. Second window; the flight attacks. The aircraft will not fire again.
The trigger. The cell authorizes it. Katya's voice on the open channel:
KATYA: "Anton. You have a harbor."
A beat. Then a line that was not authorized:
KATYA: "Let him go."
Within a minute Eirhei has heard let me go and let him go. The player must hold course through both.
The loop. The aircraft's route bends south, toward home. Its flight goes straight and level. The Command Picture shows its emissions collapsing into a repeating pattern. It is searching. The cell calls it on the relay: "It's looping."
Phase 3: Wraith (Vance)
The point of view cuts to Vance, already rolling in. The loop window lasts a little under four seconds, as the first one did. This time someone is in position.
The gun pass must come down the repaired port panel line Katya identified. With the Panel Line Marker module, the game marks it faintly. Firing on the cockpit is possible; the aircraft's aspect management denies the seam geometry and the rounds do nothing useful.
As the rounds strike the panel line, the transmission comes:
POSTHUMUS: "Falcon Two. Did you know." VANCE: "This time I know."
The loop ends. The aircraft tries to accelerate and the thermal load hits the damaged structure. The port wing fails along the panel line. The aircraft rolls and goes through the sea ice at 73.2°N, 142.8°E. The clock on the HUD reads 14:22.
In Sonza. On the cell's link, Irina is running the cadence classifier on the last transmission. The readout climbs toward a number. She switches it off before it settles.
Containment
The flight orbits the hole in the ice. GR's recovery team, holding outside the exclusion zone, turns back. Task Force recovery vessels begin moving north. The water is deep.

7. Failure Conditions
- Phase 1: breaking emission control before the cut.
- Phase 2: the aircraft reaches the coast; Eirhei breaks formation for more than ten seconds during the trigger.
- Phase 3: missing the loop window. On failure the game restarts at Phase 3 (the window is scripted to recur, because the story's point is that this time someone is in position).
8. Epilogue
Played after the credits begin.
- The circle, aboard Albatross. Marsh does not joke; he talks about his grandmother. Asano is honest, and nobody pretends not to notice. Thorne does not pass; he says one sentence about his father. Then he asks Eirhei how she is. She answers. (The player, as Eirhei, chooses the first word of the answer; the scene ends before she finishes.)
- Sonza. Irina's twenty-second birthday. Honey cake. She lights the candles.
- Canon horizon text. On 16 July 2029 the Tonitrus Spear strikes Expo City and the Sotoa–Usea War begins; the recovery vessels over the wreck are reassigned within a week, and the pistol's position is never confirmed. In August 2030 Enso Order dissolves and General Resource inherits its Usean assets. In the early 2030s, General Resource's Darkness of Enigma program finds a living, young subject for its interface.
- Last line, from the dossier's final assessment: "Anton Belyaev was correct. That is not praise. It is an indictment of every institution that ignored him while building the evidence."
